Unified MMA 13 – Recap

Despite being light on big names Unified MMA held another sold out show at the Mirage Banquet Hall in Edmonton and true to form it was another entertaining night of fights for the fans. Cardinal calls in the Doctor and as Davis is being attended to, Wilson apologiozes to Davis’ corner and to Sunny Singh at cageside saying that he thought he saw Davis’ knee coming off the mat. Cardinal takes 2 points from Wilson for the foul but the Doctor calls the fight shortly thereafter giving Davis the DQ victory.

Can someone please book a rematch between Wilson and Davis?

Its such a fantastic match up its a shame for both guys.

Eric Wilson is a class act and it certainly wasn’t premeditated or anything.

2 great fighters its a drag for these two guys.

forget a rematch!! Someone fight Adrian Wooley at 125….. Since I heard he was dropping weight I have been waiting for one of the smaller guys to step-up!!!!

People always talk about being the top dawg at 125 but with Wooley coming into the scene, shit gets interesting.

  8. Curious what people think:

Should winning by DQ affect rankings at all?

  9. evmister says:

The Tanner Boser fight should have been FOTN in my opinion. That kid is just a younger Roy Nelson. Has a great chin and heart. The fight made me LOL so much, and feel so good haha.

  10. Mike Davis says:

Like to say sorry to all the fans and people who came out, sorry to Eric Wilson, a fight should never end like that but the Dr. said I could not get 5 minutes to recover and I felt in no shape to get up and fight after that. I am sorry everyone a fight should never end like that, I do not want a win like that or Eric have a loss like that.

Eric was an amazing guy and a great person no way he did that on purpose. As for a rematch I feel obligated to do this again he deserves it and it has to happen.

    Well-loved! Thumb up 7 Thumb down 2

  11. I don’t blame you for not getting up, if you could not get the time you needed to recover.

How about a rematch for the 125 crown next Unified?

It has to happen Keith has too.

  13. Donald Duck says:

If the DQ comes within the first round (as in this case) then there should be no impact on the rankings. If however the DQ happens after the first round then it is a different story. If high ranked Fighter A was getting his/her ass whooped for 2 rounds before a foul takes them out and DQs their opponent then I think you have to weight Fighter B’s showing to that point.

    That’s just me though.

  14. @Donald Duck… so Jon Jones DQ loss to Matt Hamill is consider a win for Jones in the rankings as he was completely dominating Hamill?

I think it should count for Jones.

eric wilson and mike davis again !! for sure…why not !!very interesting fight…I like eric wilson; he,s a class act and am curious about both davis brothers, they seem to be making a name for themselves on the west coast!!…however still does not affect the BW rankings at all…neither fighter is in the top 10….

    Well-loved! Thumb up 7 Thumb down 2

  18. Cody Rempel says:

@evmister… Boser and Cobey were in the running as well but I felt the Hrabec vs. Campbell was a better (more technical, skilled) fight, but I can’t deny that Tanner and Mike weren’t entertaining as hell, put a little more gas in their tanks and I’d watch a fight like that all day! Remember, these “awards” are just one person’s opinion!

  19. Donald Duck says:

@Ketih, yes that’s an excellent example. But for that small error (and perhaps a more enthusiastic enforcement of the rules than expected) Jones won that fight bell to stoppage.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  20. Donald Duck says:

I should add that while Davis and Wilson was competitive the reasons this shouldn’t affect the rankings is the shortness of the fight and the catchweight.

  21. AJ says:

I am not sure what fight the ref was watching during the Cobey fight. Could of called it a couple of times when Cobey was HAMMERING Boser. Istead he calls it when Boser hits Cobey with powder puff punches because Cobey is gassed.

Bottom line Boser gets trip to the hospital, Cobey goes partying.

I feel sorry for Boser for the next fight he goes in thinking he won that fight. Check out the dammage to his face on him own facebook page.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 2 Thumb down 7
