Canadian Rumour Mill – October 1

(photo: Jim Beattie)

Happy October everyone!!!  Welcome to the MMA Canada’s version of the National Enquirer!!!  Where all rumours are unsubstantiated and all headlines must be followed by three exclamation marks!!!

  • Undefeated prospect and Canada’s #9 ranked Middleweight, Mike Kent, has bought out his MFC contract. Kent who never did fight in for the MFC due to a reoccurring hand injury that has been keeping him out of action for the better part of this year, will now be looking for short notice fights at Light-Heavyweight and possibly even Heavyweight. It seems likely  Kent will stay at the higher weight classes and won’t be returning to Middleweight for the foreseeable future.
  • Well I guess I got Kendall Grove’s BC debut show wrong, sorry AFC! But good news for AFC fans is that Grove is expecting to fight in Edmonton on November 23 if all goes right in Victoria on November 3.
  • Speaking of The Spyder, Grove will face WEC-vet Ariel Gandulla in Victoria.   BTW…. Former Canada top 10 Diego Wilson will face Louis Fisette on the main card as well.
  • Ali Mokdad will now face Simon Marini on Bellator’s October 12th card in Windsor. Both fighters enter the Bellator bout on a two fight losing streak.
  • ECC is thinking of putting a show on in November.  Good news for Halifax fans!
  • WTF? Advin Omic was promised a title shot in Calgary at AFC 10 and his AFC 12 opponent Adam Smith is a very worthy contender after beating the 5-0 Karel Bergen at AFC 8, so why isn’t this for the AFC Welterweight strap?
  • Poor Brad Cardinal and Josh Machan (KOTC). It sounds like Shawn Fitzsimmons is out vs Brad Cardinal this weekend. Good riddance if you ask me! Although unfortunate for those guys, Fitzsimmons seems to be a somewhat troubling figure. Three suspensions in just over the last four years. (False docs, testing positive, temp suspension and owing NSAC money). Too bad KOTC Canada got screwed over!
  • “The Godfather” Giuseppe DeNatale is hinting that he’s wanting to return to promoting again with CFC 8.

Nabil Khatib – Oh Yeahhhhh !!!

  • And speaking of comebacks, are Eric Perez and Chris Stranger coming back for the possible Canadian Fighting Championship event?
  • Kultar Gill is now schedule to fight Amr Wahman (1-1) from Egypt as the main event on Super Fight League.
  • Last Laugh: Is it just me or is Nabil Khatib looking more and more like the late Randy “The Macho Man” Savage these days? OH YEAH!!!
