MFC 34: Total Recall – Weigh In Results – Lynn Misses Weight

The Maximum Fighting Championship will hold event #34 at The Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta tomorrow night. The main event features a rematch from MFC 33 between Mukai Maromo and Adam Lynn but this time the Lightweight Title is on the line. Another rematch on the card features Canada’s top two Heavyweights, Tim Hague and Mike Hackert. Also on the stacked card is submission ace Luke Harris who will take on TUF veteran Joeseph Henle.

UPDATE: (MFC Press Release)
The Maximum Fighting Championship’s main event for MFC 34: Total Recall has been reduced to a three-round, non-title affair after Adam Lynn missed weight during the official weigh-in.

Lynn (17-9) was set to meet rival Mukai Maromo (7-2) for the vacant MFC lightweight title in a rematch of their contentious, controversial original bout from MFC 33 which Maromo took by a hotly disputed split-decision verdict. But Lynn, the former U.S. Marine, failed to make the 155-pound limit, stepping off the scale at 156.6 pounds. Maromo was on the money for his efforts at 154 pounds.

Main Card:
155lbs- Mukai Maromo (154) vs. *Adam Lynn (156.6)
185lbs- *Luke Harris (187) vs. Joseph Henle (185.4)
265lbs- Tim Hague (262) vs. Mike Hackert (222.2)
185lbs- Jacen Flynn (185) vs. Elvis Mutapcic (184.6)
170lbs- Nick Hinchliffe (170.2) vs. Dhiego Lima (170.8)
190lbs- *Cody Krahn (194.4) vs. Jason Zentgraf (190.8)

Preliminary Card:
160lbs- Dan Ring (159) vs. Derek Boyle (160.8)
185lbs- Paul Grandbois (184.4) vs. Derek Parker (185.2)
265lbs- Smealinho Rama (259.6) vs. Lee Mein (239.4)

*Missed Weight, forfeits 20% of his purse

The event is what I’m looking for. If there is no live stream offered online, there will be recordings posted on Saturday I’m sure. I’d just much rather watch it live.

If Lynn can weigh in late, why can’t Krahn and Harris?

  11. Jamie Locke says:

You see that quite a bit where guys are late for weigh-in. Most commission rules that I’ve read have fines for missing weight AND being late for weigh-in or the event. Do these guys who show up late and weigh in get fined? If not, why doesn’t everyone that is heavy just not show up for weigh in and spend some more time in the sauna?

  12. LBoutin says:

Do they have an hour to make it or are they done ?

Will Pavelich cut them if they miss ? Like McKee, Cobb and Haddad

  13. Cody Rempel says:

The Edmonton commission has a one shot weigh in rule… if you don’t make weight on your first attempt you don’t get a second chance!

Really surprised to see 2 vets missing weight. Krahn by 4 lbs is ridiculous.

  15. Cody Rempel says:

When Krahn was still scheduled to fight Kent it was a catchweight of 195lbs… not sure why it changed to 190lbs!

  16. Shawn G says:

Hmmm… Give up afew hundred dollars or punish your body to feel as if you ran a marathon the night before a fight…seems clear to me. Obviously the over weight fighter did not properly weight cut the weeks before, but their final decision to weigh over makes perfect sense. The only repercussions could be pavlich the dick cuts you(which is benificial to your career) and/or you get flamed on the Internet by opinions that mean absolutely nothing and a fatty loud mouth “manager”

Thumbs up to the fighters that flown in and still made their weight !Mabey the scale at Hyabusa is off a few pounds . GET IT CALIBRATED . Zentgraf and Henle get some extra CHEESE as Rampage would say.

  19. Jerobe says:

I’m pretty sure Krahn was under the impression the fight was at 195 lbs. Krahn has never had problems making 185 let alone 190. I think he even made 170.

  20. Cody Rempel says:

UPDATE: Lynn vs. Maromo will now be a 3 round non-title fight due to Adam Lynn missing weight by 1.6lbs, Lynn will also forfeit 20% of his purse to Maromo.

  21. mike kent says:

yeah i cant see krahn or harris missing wieght ourposly . Krahns last fight was 175 . im sure Krahn thought it was 195 still , these guys are both professional . Terribly disapointed that the lynn vs. Maromo fight will not be a title fight and three missing be seasoned fighters is rather odd. Either way these will be great fights. ill be there watching!

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 3 Thumb down 5

  22. Cody Rempel says:

@LBoutin to answer your earlier question, it’s undecided if the guys who missed weight will be cut or not!

maybe it was 1 hour before weigh in… either way its weird

  26. Dean Panas says:

Cody knew it was a 190lb catchweight. The weight cut was not a problem. When I talked to him last night at 9:30 he was 195lb. I talked to him at 10:00 this morning and he was 190.4 and said everything was great. We got to the venue early and when Cody stepped on the scale he was shocked that he was over.
It’s not an excuse but Cody’s scale at home was off. He takes full responsibility for missing weight and feels terrible about it. The fact that Cody’s scale at home was not calibrated with the official ECSC scale was a mistake that will not happen in the future.

  27. mike kent says:

thats brutal that happened by accident . whats done is done now take the 20 percent cut and focus on the fight . good luck cody, luke and all the other great fighters on this card

  30. Don't Call Me Leon says:

So Lynn showed up late and only gets one chance to weigh in? What about the other fighters who showed up on time and came in overweight, do they get a chance to cut or does the Edmonton Commission still only allow one chance? Is the unified rules not, weigh in once overweight and either cut weight within 2hrs or forfeit % of purse? Sorry maybe not unified rules but then just up to each Commission overseeing the event?

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  31. Pretty suprised there were weight issues in both the main and co-main event.

  32. MixedMartialFarts says:

The fact that Lynn gets to weigh in hours later but the guys who weighed in on time dont get a 2nd chance to make the weight makes zero sense.

  34. I'll say it says:

I feel bad for Maromo the most he trained his ass off for a title fight and now its a 3 round fight, hope MFC takes care of him,

For Harris missing weight for the toughest fight of his career hmmm, that’ says it all

Krahn you miss weight by that much crazy.

Dean you seem to be a good guy but saying Cody’s scale at home is off, that is an excuse, Even though you say your not making excuses, he missed weight nothing more to say, it’s his fault not his scales fault

So he did not cut any weight at a gym ? Or did the gym not have a scale there? Just wondering why he would he wouldn’t check at the gym instead of when he went home

    @ Darren,

Thanks for that link. Have to say if MP is serious then that is the most out rageous thing to come out of his mouth ever! Cancel a weight class because of a few spoiled apples, well that’s ok I’m sure AFC or Score will pick up those fighters! Also I thought MP had his hand in the Edmonton Commission, why not work with them to change their weigh in policies which only benefit everyone!

  40. MMA Fans says:

    Very Un PRO MFC

Cody must have a bad scale or maybe lack of brain power to double check with another scale, we have cut weight before and he always uses two as its normal to take the average of both.

Dean Panas as you can tell by the the thumbs down your a really waste of skin.

    Luke ouch

    Lynn ouch.

Cutting the LW division is foolish. There soooooo many talented lightweights in Canada and on the MFC roster. Demarce, Mukai, Dan Ring….

  46. I'll say it says:

If he gets rid of the 155 division he’s an idiot, but I’m sure he won’t that’s a time he should not speak about it, I’m sure he is frustrated with it 2 times in a row guys miss weight.

And I find it funny how many people comment on MFC events alot of you have so many things to say about how shitty they how are they still going (idolmaker) but yet always have something to say, this card is by far the best Alberta event this year.

And no I’m not Pav just think it’s disrespectful to the fighters who are under the MFC banner, so many guys who were with AFC but went to MFC, including Moromo, Hague, Hinchliffe, Harris and why would Hackert want to go there over AFC???

    Well-loved! Thumb up 6 Thumb down 0

  47. Mighty Mouse says:

I don’t think anybody is disrespecting the fighters under the MFC banner, they’re just disrespecting the MFC.

If you have the CEO of a company constantly talking shit about his own roster of fighters, threatening to wipe out an entire division and always making the fish wraps because of contract disputes, people will speak up!

People watch MFC cards because they have a vested interest in the fighters that fight under their banner. Doesn’t mean they have to like the promotion. A lot of people don’t like Dana White but they still watch the UFC.

Bottom line is this: The reason why fighters get lured over to MFC is because Mark is a dynamite salesman. I will give him that. The problem though is that he baits fighters over with promises of being on a televised card, access to sponsorship money by being on tv and creating press releases hyping them up. All good stuff right? What promoters are supposed to do right? Unfortunately, what usually happens is that the minute you lose, you get buried on the non-televised undercard, lose sponsors, get iced and fight maybe twice a year and battle it out over contract disputes. On the flip side of that: You win your fights, start climbing the ranks, only to have Pavelich bring in some guy from the States that is way more experienced to give you a loss and keep you from getting to other promotions or climbing the ladder.

He did it Ryan Ford. He did it to Ryan McGillavry. He did it to Valimaki. He did it to Lewis. He tried to do it to Jimmo with Teixera and he’s trying to do it now to Maromo.

I agree and have come to the same conclusion MM.

  49. I'll say it says:

MM good points I give you that, but 1 problem is it’s not about having Pavelich bring in some American to try and beat the Canadian to put them on the under card he brings up fighters pretty good look at Moromo for example, he is building him up pretty well, yes he keeps winning so he deserves what he’s getting, but Pav would not put him in against John Alessio right now.

As for Ryan The Kid Yes he got smashed but what should he do keep feeding them bums to pad a record? Or test them when you fight for a title it should be your toughest fight.

And I said it before and will say it again I love Canadian MMA but it will not go to the next level if promoters keep padding records an not bringing Americans in to test them.

I love to see Canadians in the UFC but the reality I want to see them win am stay there not have 2 fights and done.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  50. Mighty Mouse says:

I’ll say it – I don’t think we’re actually that far apart. Pavelich has a system and it works well when he uses it well. He’s good at building up fighters but it seems like he gets way too personal and/or emotional when meal tickets leave. Ticket sellers are the foundation of any successful promotion but a good promoter will keep building up locals and let the successful ones be successful other places if they so choose to leave.

    Good points though!
