Bellator Adds Marcus “Lelo” Aurelio to Welterweight Roster

Bellator has added another exciting “Canadian” to their ever expanding roster inking Brazilian transplant Marcus “Lelo” Aurelio to their Welterweight ranks. Aurelio is expected to make his promotional début against a yet to be named opponent at the finale of their Summer Series, Bellator 73 in August.

Aurelio, the explosive Axe Capoeira product will enter his Bellator 73 fight on the strength of a 6 fight win streak. Since losing his MMA Début, Aurelio has rattled off a bevy of impressive knockouts that have come by slam, punch, flying switch kick and spinning capoeira kick a few of which have become viral hits and made him the talk of many including MMA Legend Bas Rutten who was actively campaigning on his Facebook page and Twitter to help find Aurelio some fights.

Bellator 73 will also feature a Featherweight Title Fight between Pat Curran and Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, the finals of the Bantamweight Tournament between Marcos Galvao and Luis Nogueira and finally the finals of the Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament.

I had openly critized the use of capoeira in mma many times before. This guy and his brother have made me a believer.

I’m interested to see who they set him up with!

@Jamie: Why?? What exactly in your mind warrants the use of capoiera in MMA??

Confused. And just a bit ignorant/racism-tinged.
