Ring Rematches McGee at UFC 149 in Calgary
The latest addition to the UFC’s Calgary debut is a rematch from the opening round of The Ultimate Fighter 11. Hometown boy, Nick Ring will take on Court McGee in a Middleweight contest. Ring defeated McGee in opening round via a razor thin majority decision, McGee re-entered the competition as an injury replacement and was scheduled to rematch with Ring in the quarter-finals before Ring was forced out due to a knee injury and McGee went on to become the eventual TUF 11 champion.
UFC 149 will mark Nick Ring’s return after an 11 month lay off. Ring got his first taste of defeat in his most recent bout against Tim Boetsch when he lost a unanimous judges decision. Prior to the loss the BDB Martial Arts product, Ring was undefeated in 12 straight including seven first round finishes and a 2-0 start in the UFC with victories over Riki Fukuda and James Head.
Court McGee turned to mixed martial arts after overcoming a heroin addiction and earned a spot on The Ultimate Fighter after amassing a 10-1 record on the local circuit. Besides the loss to Ring, McGee won all three of his other bouts on the show and won the UFC contract. After the show McGee continued his impressive career with wins over Ryan Jensen and Dongi Yang before experiencing his first Octagon defeat to Constantinos Philippou in his most recent contest.
