Jason Meisel is a great young athlete. He’s a very likeable personable hard-working kid with a great spirit and an exciting style.

He will continue to do well and will go very far.

But Jay, you’ve missed weight twice in 3 fights.

My friend, that is unacceptable in this sport, and you should be ashamed. You are disrespecting the sport.

The reason I bring this up is that you do a great young fighter a very big disservice if you don’t show him that there are repercussions to missing weight. Because he missed before, and nothing really happened, he missed again yesterday and didn’t even go try to lose the last .8 pounds. And he very well could have and SHOULD HAVE.

Jay, you’re a great dude and a great prospect.

    It is unacceptable.

People are watching, and you should know there is a small tainted asterisk next to your “great young prospect” tag. You are a “great young prospect that has missed weight in more than half of his fights”. Man, don’t become “he’s a great fighter but the dude never makes weight”.

Now go out there and have a great performance man. Show how talented and gutsy you are, and have an amazing night. Enjoy the challenge, enjoy the crowd, and enjoy doing what you love.

Have a great one tonight man.

Why wouldn’t the kid go and sweat off that .8#? For 20% it’s worth the shot no?

He is a great kid. And a great fighter.

If we let fighters know that they must make weight nomatter what they will make it nomatter what.

Guys just need to see that there is no valid excuse whatsoever to miss weight.

He really is a great prospect. He’s going to have a great performance tonight.

No one wants to come down on a great athlete.

He’ll go in there and hunt for another great win.
