Fantastic night of fights. The Denis KO was insane. I hope Reilly isn’t too hard on himself. People forget the studs Morvan has gone to war with.
Man, no offense to Gunn, but I thought Khatib won. That old man can take a fucking beating, y’all. Robin Black looked handsome as ever.
And it was great to see Butterbean!…………wait…..I’m being told that it was Fabio Holanda….

  7. Joe Nathan says:

LMFAO Harry!! The Holanda crack had me lol’ing!! Honestly regarding the shitle tot I also think Nabil won, although obviously the judges favoured standing strikes far more than takedowns and control. I don’t, however see how anyone could have that 4 rounds to 1. Incompetence.

  8. Pat G says:

I also thought the gunn/khatib fight was a very close and difficult fight to score. incredible fight. even if nabil may not have won, holy shit, he can take punishment.

How about denis’s slam. even though he was getting controlled for a lot of that fight, he finds a way to win. nicely done.

and props to DBoss on his quick finish……we did it homie!!!!!!!!!

Gunn should return to the MFC. He had a bad run there but he’s ready now.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 10

  11. Robin Black says:

People always come down on me for being an MFC fan, a Mark Pavelich fan, and a supporter of their great company.

I get it. People can be haters. But people know Robin Black is behind the MFC.

But Mark, my friend, you gave up on Gunn. Even you, a top promoter in this sport, make mistakes.

And you made one with Gunn. He’s a star.

Ah, no biggie. You make way more great decisions than bad decisions. That’s why you’re still here while others aren’t.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 3 Thumb down 5

  12. Joe Doerksen says:

lol at Mark still pretending to be someone else.

ttt for Gunn being ready for the UFC.

Anyone want free mma business analysis?

MFC strutted confidently for years. The Score has done the biggest Canadian numbers in the last 18 months.

Everyone in Quebec should fear Instinct. They are offering 2 to 3 times the $ of what MFC can offer, and a bit higher than The Score can lay out, in an effort to sign fighters. Their business model doesn’t require a profit, and that is powerful.

The fight game is a crazy game. Excited to see the next 2 years unfold. :)

  15. JYD says:

Fight of the night – Nabil vs Gunn
KO of the night – Nick Denis huge slam KO
Submission of the night – Morvan’s heel hook.

Overall I thought it was a great event last night. It was good to see fights going into the 2nd and 3rd round and remaining really competitive.

I am really looking forward to seeing Remi fight at 125 again. He looked healthy in there and performed very well.

  17. Paveldouce says:

Returning to the MFC is stepping down, not up.

As Robin has said, Score and Instinct are growing fast, while MFC continues in a downward spiral.Decreasing the size of their venue and not even selling out at that. Despite what the Pav tries to tell you.

Congrats to Nathan Gunn. Keep going forward and don’t look back.

    Well-loved! Thumb up 10 Thumb down 0

  18. the shark says:

    To Harry Balls,
Reilly will be out of commission for 4 to 6 weeks with tendon damage. He’s in good spirits (read as angry as hell) and is looking forward to the next challenge. We don’t consider this a big loss as Remi Morvan is a very seasoned player compared to Michael and entered the cage considerably larger. Congratulations to Mr. Morvan on bringing his A game to the Wreck card. Since coming into the sport it has all been uphill for this kid. The underdog in every case. But he’s not in this sport to run, he’s in it to fight. We appreciate that you see that and thank you for your words of encouragement.

Robin – please elaborate on how instinct’s model doesnt require profit – are they a government institution ?

  26. Robin Black says:

Ha ha. Just kinda thinkin out loud.

Safer to say they are taking actions which suggest that turning a short term profit is not a priority.

Their aggressive signings and seemingly prohibitively high production budget etc suggests turning a short term profit, mathematically, isn’t important.

How or why that is I don’t know. There’s many possible reasons.

But Mr. Party is an extremely smart man and the math says profit right now is not the priority, but trying to cement their place in the landscape, starting with Quebec especially, certainly is.

  27. smooth says:

Gracie joined you for the Dewsberry vs ST Jean fight. All he could talk about was Dewsberry being in trouble. It was clear that he was comfortable and had escapabilty. It was one of the better fights of the night but because Dewsberry is not from Eastern Canada.. there is no love. the kid is 20 and is 7-1-1.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

  28. Robin Black says:

That kid kicks ass. Dewsberry is one to watch for sure.

You’re right. His big win over a tough opponent did kind of get lost a bit in the shuffle.

  29. Robin Black says:

But we’re gonna see a lot of him in the future. Who is out there at 170 that’s a good looking match-up for this kid now? Who’s the right fight in the 7-1 range at 170?

    20 years old. Scary.
