Bellator Returns to Canada’s Casino Rama
CHICAGO, Ill. (October 12, 2011) — After a highly successful Canadian debut at Bellator 47, the promotion will once again travel north of the border and host Bellator 57 from Casino Rama on November 12 LIVE on MTV2 and The Score in Canada as well as in commercial-free HD on EPIX2, starting at 7 p.m. ET. The night will feature the Season 5 Welterweight Finals, as Ben “Killa B” Saunders battles “The Phenom” Douglas Lima for a $100,000 payday and a guaranteed welterweight title shot. Fan favorite Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki will be back in action for the first time since the tragic passing of his long-time coach Shawn Tompkins earlier this year, taking on Brazilian lightweight prospect Ricardo Tirloni in a lightweight televised feature fight. The night will also host a number of explosive preliminary fights that will be streamed FREE and around the world LIVE on Spike.com beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and the Casino Rama Box Office.
In a female super fight, Bellator Women’s Champion Zoila Gurgel will take on Brazilian submission ace Carina Damm. Gurgel hasn’t fought since March and is eager to get back into the cage against Damm.
“I haven’t fought for a few months, but in my down time I feel like I’ve finally become a real mixed martial arts fighter,” said Gurgel. “I’ve had this fight circled on my calendar for quite some time, and just want this night to get here as soon as it can.”
Fighting in front of friends and family, Nova Scotia native Roger “The Hulk” Hollett will make his Bellator debut against Ohio’s own John Hawk in a light heavyweight affair. A true finisher, Hollett will be looking to move his win streak to five, and should have the hometown crowd behind him.
The preliminary action is loaded with some of Canada’s most promising talent, with Denis Puric, Chuck Mady, Steve Simms, Will Romero and Mike Sledzion all in action. The preliminary fights kick off at 5 p.m. ET, and will be streaming LIVE on Spike.com.
