Pierson Meets Stun Gun at UFC 141
I wonder which of the UFC brass Sean Pierson pissed off? Once again, Pierson has been thrown in with the lions as the fighter formerly known as “Pimp Daddy” takes on Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 141. Just months after facing UFC title contender Jake Ellenberger, Pierson faces yet another UFC title contender with a 5-1 record in world’s top organization. The match up has been officially announced via Dana White and originally reported by MMAjunkie.com and Sherdog.com.
Pierson, Canada’s 7th ranked Welterweight, burst into the UFC with a ‘Fight of the Night’ calibre performance, defeating TUF veteran Matt Riddle via Unanimous Decision. This will be Pierson’s first UFC fight outside of Canada as he fought Riddle in Montreal at UFC 124 then suffered his KO loss at UFC 129 in his hometown of Toronto.
“Stun Gun” also returns to the cage on the heels of his first UFC loss as the surging Korean was stopped via TKO at the hands of a Carlos Condit flying knee at UFC 132. Kim also owns a win over TJ Grant, another ranked Canadian Welterweight. Before his loss to Condit, Kim was skyrocketing towards a UFC title shot as the owner of five wins in the UFC over notables Matt Brown, Amir Sadollah and Nate Diaz.
UFC 141 is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will feature the highly anticipated Heavyweight clash between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem. Other featured match ups are Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks and Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko.
