Yousefi Happy With Latest Win, Zmyndak Talks “Chiller”, “Goldmine” and More

Behrang Yousefi continued his winning ways at King of the Cage Canada’s “Chiller” card this past Saturday in Yellowknife, as the 145lb. fighter tapped out Marc Savoie with a first round triangle-choke. The Iranian born, Edmonton fighter has now recorded three straight wins since he began fighting professionally earlier this year.

“I’m happy with the win and my performance yet still feel there’s so much left to be worked on,” said Yousefi, who trains out of the Pix Martial Arts in St. Albert, Alberta. “Marc held on as long as he could. I’m surprised he didn’t tap when I went for the arm bar while I had the triangle on him. Hope to raise the bar next time.”

Not only did Yousefi pull off the victory in less than two minutes, but according to KOTC Canada matchmaker Orest Zmyndak, the 23 year-old continued to entertain fans afterwards.

“Behrang Yousefi continued his winning ways with a win over an extremely tough Marc Savoie and won the crowd over with his humour and sincerity with his post fight speech,” Zmyndak noted.

“Yellowknife was a great city to fight in, love the crowd,” Yousefi added. “They got right into it and knew how to party after.”

In addition to the main event tilt, which saw Zach Blaber earn a split decision win over Elmer Waterhen, Zmyndak reports that the Adam MacDonald and Nick Campbell was also one of “Chiller’s” highlights.

“Adam MacDonald proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the 205 division as he showed tremendous power in slamming Nick Campbell twice to the mat,” said the KOTC matchmaker, who earlier this week also credited Blaber and Waterhen for their memorable, main event tilt. “Local Hip Hop artist Aaron “Godson” Hernandez led Adam to the cage with a song he specially wrote for the event and I don’t believe I have ever heard a crowd explode like that before.”

KOTC Canada’s busy schedule will continue in October, as the promotion will be heading to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, for its latest event.

“Up next is “Goldmine” in Dawson Creek headlined by the long awaited battle of the heavyweights, Raphael Bergmann and Ryan Fortin for the KOTC Canadian title,” Zmyndak said while discussing the October 28th card. “A November date is being secured for Edmonton and KOTC will be returning to Yellowknife in the spring with a confirmed date.”

According to Yousefi, he also will be fighting on the upcoming October event, marking the fourth pro bout of his young career.

“I’m fighting Matt Whitten on Friday October 28 for King of the Cage “Goldmine,” Yousefi said. “I promise violence.”

Yousefi has looked really good in the two fights I’ve seen him in… I’d love to see him get a shot at the KOTC Bantamweight (145lbs) title if he can get a few more wins!
