Canada’s #3 ranked Lightweight, John “The Bull” Makdessi has signed to take on Dennis Hallman at UFC 140 in Toronto. The undefeated resident of Tristar Gym in Montreal will look to spoil Superman’s return to the Lightweight Division after decade of competing at 170lbs and higher. Hallman however will look to erase the memory of a quick loss and an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction in his most recent which drew the fury of Dana White.

Makdessi returns to the Octagon on the heels of a pair of impressive victories to open his UFC career. Makdessi made his debut with an impressive striking display as he battered Pat Audinwood en route to a dominant decision. “The Bull” followed up with a highlight reel spinning back fist knockout over Ultimate Fighter 12 cast member Kyle Watson. A win here for Makdessi will undoubtedly close the gap between he and number 1 and 2 ranked Canadian Lightweights Mark Bocek and Sam Stout.

Dennis Hallman makes his return to the Lightweight division for the first time since a loss to Jens Pulver for the UFC title way back in 2001 at UFC 33. Hallman, a veteran of over 60 documented professional fights comes in with a 2-2 record in his most recent stint with the organization. Hallman’s most recent bout was a TKO loss to fellow 60 fight veteran Brian Ebersole in which his choice of attire was discussed more than the actual fight, in the end Ebersole walked away with a “getting those horrifying shorts off of TV as soon as possible” bonus courtesy of an embarrassed Dana White.
