Global Warriors Prepare for First Battle

By:

Hamilton, Ontario – Preparations are well underway for the debut of Hamilton’s newest force in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Sponsored and operated by the Tapout Training centre in Burlington, Global Warriors Fighting Championship is getting set to make their organizational debut. Global Warriors: Uprising will take place on Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario. With a 10 fight card, packed with the best talent southern Ontario has to offer, Global Warriors: Uprising is poised to make a big impact in the world of mixed martial arts and lay the groundwork for a top end MMA promotion that will call southern Ontario it’s home.

In the main event Adrian “The Bully” Wooley (7-2) will look to shake off his recent loss and show why he is one of Canada’s top prospects when he steps in the cage to face off with the Motor City’s David “Bo” Harris (5-2-1). Also at the top of the card, undefeated (6-0) bantamweight Josh Hill puts his record on the line in a cross-border showdown as he will stand across the cage from Dan Henderson disciple Federico “Kiko” Lopez (5-3). The fight is a chance for Hill to once against cement his place as one of the best bantamweights that Canada has to offer while “Kiko“ looks to put back to back wins together. In another co-headlining fight in the lightweight division Port Dover, Ontario’s Taylor Solomon (3-2) looks to stand toe to toe with the reigning two time World Muay Thai champion and Hamilton native Shane “Shaolin” Campbell (2-1). Both fighters are coming off losses, something Campbell is very unfamiliar with, and both are looking for national and even international notoriety on the MMA scene. A win for Solomon over the reigning two time Muay Thai World Champion vaults him to another level, while a win for Campbell puts him in line for big things in the very near future.

In featherweight action, rising star and Hamilton’s own Lyndon Whitlock (4-1) will take on tough veteran Jason MacKay (9-5) in a fight that could steal the show. Jesse Ronson (6-2) and Eric Attard (3-1) return to Hamilton after both scoring vicious TKO wins at Slammer in the Hammer to take on submission specialist Jason Saggo (5-0) and the promising Theo Toney (1-2) respectively. Decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist Ryan Dickson makes his professional coming off an undefeated amateur career as he takes on Brantford, Ontario’s Brett Beiderman (1-2) in welterweight action. Light-Heavyweights will collide as former boxer Shawn Levesque (1-0) will look to throw his heavy hands as he takes on Moncton, New Brunswick’s Troy Wilton (2-1). Also appearing will be Ancaster high school grads and wrestling specialists Josh (4-1) and Joel Powell (3-2) as they will step in the cage to face off with the always exciting Jason Gorny (4-5) and veteran Matt McGrath (10-6) respectively.

Under the guidance of Tapout Training Centre Burlington, run by Garnet Ace, Global Warriors Fighting Championship: Uprising is an event that has implications not just on the national MMA scene but internationally as well. All the action of the very first Global Warriors event kicks off on Friday, August 13th, 2011 from Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario.

They decided Matt was too experienced and they felt it was an unfair match up.

Ontario is super strict with match-ups. I don’t understand some of their decisions though.

Hopefully with more time they start letting some of these solid match-ups happen.
