Bantamweights Eric Perez and Tony Bibby will face off in a much anticipated showdown on September 10th at Canadian Fighting Championships in Winnipeg.

Sources close to both fighters have confirmed this fight with Top MMA News.

Eric Perez (6-2, 5-0 CFC) is currently ranked as Canada’s #8 Bantamweight and is riding a 5 fight win streak.  Perez represents Winnipeg Academy of Mixed Martial Arts and and is one of CFC’s biggest stars and a Winnipeg fan favourite. Perez, arguably the division’s most vicious fighter, is coming off the biggest win of his career, defeating former Canadian Top 10 Bantamweight Remi Morvan at CFC 6.

Tony Bibby (5-5, CFC debut), representing PIX/Hayabusa, has perennially hovered just outside the Top 10 in Canada’s Bantamweight division. Bibby is coming off a disappointing submission loss to hot rising prospect and TrauMMA Canadian All-Star Tyler Davis. Bibby, long considered one of the better western Canadian prospects, has yet to live up to his potential and take that next step.  He will be looking to silence the naysayers and make a statement against the much respected Perez.

Both fighters are known for their exciting stand up skills as well as the aggressive nature of their styles.  The fight is sure to be a contender for Fight of the Night. This matchup will have definite Canadian Top 10 implications as a win for Perez will strengthen his case as one of Canada’s Top 5 fighters, while a win for Bibby would almost certainly catapult him into the Top 10.

Canadian Fight Championship will be making their return on September 10th after a one year hiatus with a mixed fight card showcasing both MMA and Muay Thai, featuring the likes of Rodrigo Munduruca (MMA), Lindsay Hawkes (MMA), Chris Stranger (MMA), and Dave Zuniga (Muay Thai).

I love how TrauMMA Canadian All Star is a credential.

This will be a good scrap, but I think perez will take it.

I hear ya my friend. With some logical thinking, I do understand and respect the one smart step at a time approach.

Perez in top form takes this fight quite easily.

What makes it interesting is the rumours that Perez is horribly out of shape.

    We’ll see.

I’m very excited for this fight and think for however long it lasts it’ll be very exciting and high paced.

While I don’t see Perez winning this fight quite easily as my friend Robin stated above, I definitely see him as the favourite. I know Bibby will train his ass off for this fight and give Eric a stiff test for sure.

This will be a very crowd pleasing fight!

bibby has sloppy standup. doesn’t seem to take well to get getting hit.
