Mein, (21-7-0) has built his reputation on taking tough fights and is on a path that many believe will land him in the UFC. He is coming off a devastating TKO victory over seasoned veteran Joe ‘Diesel’ Riggs and a well-deserved decision win against UFC veteran Josh Burkman. Zaromskis will be a true test to see whether Mein is ready for the octagon. Best known for his highlight reel head kick knockouts, Zaromskis is considered one of the sport’s most exciting and most dangerous fighters. He is hoping to continue his winning streak against Mein, after successfully defending his Dream Welterweight Title against MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba in his last bout. Zaromskis’ notable victories include Hayato Sakurai, Ross Pointon and 2009’s KO of the Year against Jason High in the finals of Dream’s Welterweight Grand Prix.
Mein accepted the proposed match-up without hesitation and expressed an admiration for Zaromskis’ fan-friendly style. “I pride myself on being entertaining and putting on a good show for the crowd,” says Mein. “I know Marius will give me a great fight and test my abilities.”
Also added to the card is a Lightweight battle between Toronto’s Jorge Britto and Saskatoon’s Kurt Southern. Britto (12-7-1) lost a close decision to Jason Young in April in an incredible back and forth battle. The win helped propel Young into a UFC contract which Britto has used for motivation in his training.
Britto will be facing one of Canada’s top lightweights when he meets Southern (8-3-0) in the cage. Southern is coming off a victory against top Canadian lightweight Brad Cardinal and has only been to a decision once in his professional career. Fans can anticipate an exciting match-up, as both men are looking to use this fight as a statement on their way up the MMA ladder.
Can you say one and done. Keith Crawford is the Kiss of Death for any show.
Keith Crawford is a class act and one of the most experienced people in the sport in Canada. And a real gentleman.
Go Southern! Kurt is a beast.
A lot of people don’t realize that Keith Crawford and Lee Mein and a few other people are the “godfathers” of this sport in Canada. While others openly make claims of being “pioneers” in the sport its the ones like Keith and Lee who have silently and diligently worked to make the sport prosper in canada. Just because keith doesn’t seek the glory of others doesn’t make his contribution any less valuable.
Amen brother.
Keith and Lee are both AWESOME!!! I always enjoy talking to either of them. They are both encyclopedia’s of Canadian MMA knowledge and are willing to share everything!!! I wish there were more people like Keith and Lee in this business!!!
true story Mr Crawford works himself out of his voice then he joins myself and mr black for a traditional 9am ceasar and his voice magically reappears. for real he is like a magic god and really cool dude
