MMA Live 1 Coming to London, Ontario

By:

MMA fans and fanatics across the map saw their dreams turn to reality on January 1, 2011 when the Government officially legalized Mixed Martial Arts in Ontario!

The buzz has been going for weeks and Jones Entertainment Group (JEG) is among the first to carry it forward. On May 19, 2011 JEG will fill the John Labatt Centre (JLC) with over 9,000 MMA fans, creating one of the most memorable sporting events ever to happen in London, ON. Canada’s top fighters will go face to face with the world’s best, in an 8-bout matchup that is sure to leave spectators high on MMA adrenaline for days!

President of Jones Entertainment Group, Brad Jones, says “We are thrilled to have been licensed by the Ontario Government to promote 3 large scale MMA fights across Ontario in 2011 – the first one being here in London, at the JLC on May 19th. We’re making a promise to MMA fans that these events will be world-class. With the highest calibre of fighters, superior production (sound, lighting and video) and taking place in top-notch venues.”

With the Jones family having been in the entertainment business for over 80 years – starting back in the 1920’s promoting boxing and wrestling events with heroes like Whisper Billy Watson – it’s no wonder Brad Jones finishes off his quote by saying “This is a very exciting day”.
The excitement is spreading like wildfire. General Manager of Tourism London, John Winston, sums it up perfectly: “This will be huge! Not just for MMA Fans but for the City of London!”

Next to Toronto’s April 29th UFC event, MMA LIVE1 on May 19th at the John Labatt Centre in London, will be the biggest event in Ontario in 2011.

Jones entertainment know nothing about MMA, they are looking at making a quick buck and getting out, they are part of the problem that will be Ontario MMA’s biggest issue…greedy non-MMA people looking to make out big while destroying our sport!

Screw Jones Entertainment and all the other Greasy Promoters looking to get rich off of OUR SPORT!!

    Well Shawn,

We understand and appreciate you view but is in no way accurate. Mr. Dave Mair (Olympic Coach) as well as Jim Gentle are seasoned pros in the business. Mr Dave Mair is also a partner in promoting the progression of Canadian Athletes with MMA Live Canada. The work we have all put in over the years of working with these athletes has been done for minimal to no monetary return. Jones entertainment is a professional company and promoter that we felt necessary to elevate this association to higher standards. If you know the world of MMA so well you will also realize many athletes have been taken advantage of and not been paid in some cases by MMA Promotion companies with little to no history.

Do your home work before belittling a company that has raised over a millon dollars for the Bethany’s Hope fondation and many other causes.Theres not a single MMA Athlete that will challenge the professionalism of the people behind MMA Live Canada, out side of other promoters with little to no history.

You are calling the people that have been the back bone of almost every pro fighter “Greasy”?

That’s not right please due your diligence next time!!!

  8. Thanks for your comment Tony.

Not sure why fans do not want promotions to make some money.

Don’t get me wrong, corners should not be cut on fighter treatment, adherence to regulations, and safety in order to make more money, but profit should not be a dirty word.

  16. Neal… here is the tentative lineup. http://topmmanews.com/2011/02/04/mma-live-1-london-may-19/

Don’t blame the promotions for not getting cards out. The Commission is taking their time approving fights.

  19. Kim Brazeau says:

Why is your card changing so often? In Sudbury you are using Michel Gagnon’s name. when he has said himself that he is under contract with Ringside and will 100% not be fighting at mmalive2. You put tickets on sale without confirming any fighters and if anyone does their research, those names have been changing weekly. It may be a good show in the end, however who knows what the card will be when they get there. Sell high priced tickets first and then figure out the details….what a strategy.

  20. ROB H says:

MY SON AND I HAVE RINGSIDE 3 ROWS BACK. BOY IT SURE COST ENOUGH, BUT MOST OF THE FIGHTERS I HAVE SEEN FIGHT GIVE ALL THEY HAVE WITH HEART. YOU CAN NOT ASK FOR MORE.THAT MAKES IT ALL WORTH IT. THIS MY FIRST MMA FIGHT LIVE.I WATCH IT ON THE TUBE EVERY WEEK ,EVERY DAY ON THE FIGHT NETWORK.SO GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE FIGHTERS AND FIGHT SMART NOT HARD.

  22. Sean says:

C’mon Tony… you must be able to release some details about the Sudbury card – fight night is only 6 weeks away.

Went to Toronto for UFC 129 and had a fantastic time and I’m stoked to see a local show. However I’m not shelling out so much as a nickel before I see a fight card.

I’d also like to hear why Gagnon’s name was being bandied about in order to sell tickets when it doesn’t look like he’ll be fighting on the 2nd for your promotion.
