No Day Means Busy Night for Kalib Starnes
Top MMA News has confirmed that Jason Day has pulled out his WRECK MMA fight on January 28th. Day was to fight FIT MMA’s Craig Brown in the main event of the card.
Do not despair WRECK fans! The promotion has pulled a more than suitable replacement fighter out of its matchmaking hat. British Columbia’s Kalib Starnes will now take on Craig Brown in the headliner. In an interesting twist, this bout will have Starnes, the AFC’s Middleweight champion, facing off against the W-1’s Light-Heavyweight champion, Brown.
Starnes last fought top ranked Canadian Nick Hinchliffe to win the AFC crown and is 11-5-1 overall in his career. Starnes, who has also beaten Chris Leben and Jason MacDonald, will be a stiff challenge for Ottawa’s Craig Brown. Brown, who is 7-3, lost his last fight to that same Nick Hinchliffe at Aggression MMA.
In other WRECK news, Thunder Bay’s Nathan Gunn has also been forced to remove himself from the card due to medical issues. Gunn was looking forward to putting on a good fight with Louis-Philippe Carle and is disappointed in having to pull out. There is no word on a replacement opponent for Louis-Philippe Carle at this time.
