WEC 53 Results


The last WEC went down in the history books last night with “Showtime” Anthony Pettis capturing the WEC lightweight title from Ben Henderson with a Unanimous Decision. Pettis knocked Henderson down with about a minute left in the fight with a crazy Matrix style ninja kick off the cage and almost got the knockout win. Duke Roufus trained Anthony Pettis earned himself a shot against the winner between UFC Lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard, who are set to face off on January 1st.

– Dominick Cruz defeated Scott Jorgensen by Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) – Retaining his WEC title, and earning the first ever 135 UFC belt
– Donald Cerrone defeated Chris Horodecki by submission (Triangle Choke) at 2:43, Round 2
– Kamal Shalorus defeated Bart Palaszewski by Split Decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)
