Big props to Bastien, he not only took the fight on super short notice, but had a great showing and went home with the strap.

  2. That was a fun fight to watch. I thought Bastien looked terrible in the first and it was only a matter of time before Hinchliffe finished him. However, Huveneers came out strong in the second.

I would have given the 1st, 3rd and 5th to Hinchliffe, nick had clear opportunities to finish as in the 3rd and 5th where he was dazed and gassed….

Bas did win rounds 2 and 4 with more aggression and cage control.

I think Nick’s boxing was crisp, but he spent too much time outside Bas’ reach when he should have been in tight working the body.

Not to take anything away from Bas, as I think it was super close and could have gone either way. nobody was “robbed” here. It was a great fight, and as you said, very fun to watch.

I am sure due to the closeness of the match we’ll see an immediate rematch in the next couple months.

With Bastien being signed with Battlefield and Nick signed with AFC, we won’t get the opportunity to see this one in BC. I am sure the TFC will put Nick up as Bas’ first defence.

It was definitely a fun fight to watch. I did not think it was going to get out of the first round!! Hinchliffe had Bastien in trouble a few times in the first couple of rounds but hesitated in going in for the kill. Nick also lost ballance a couple times when he was circling and stepped on the bottom of the cage.
Definitely a great fight that deserves a re-match!! To bad it won’t get the attention it deserves from the Edmonton fans!! Makes more “business” sense to me to have the re-match as a semi-main and a popular local fighter as the main event.

  5. Jamie Locke says:

If it’s for the title it would make sense to have maybe the Lightweight title as the main and maybe these boys rematching for the co-main.

Again, I thought it was a great battle.

  7. Jamie Locke says:

I have to strongly disagree with the 5th Keith. Nick’s footwork was tight like it was in the 1st. He had energy, he was throwing in jabs from the outside(though he should have been inside). I can agree that Bastien had control of the center, but Nick was the only one attacking in the last round. Even at the end, Bas had Nick on the cage, but Nick was the one throwing shots at the liver.
