Kid Yamamoto Coming to the UFC

Fresh off the heels of the Michihiro Omigawa signing, Norifumi Yamamoto has now joined the UFC, according to a Dana White tweet.

Known as “Kid”, Yamamoto was considered the top Featherweight in the world after winning 14 consecutive fights before losing to Joe Warren in 2009.  Yamamoto, 18-3,  went on to lose two in a row before beating Frederico Lopez at DREAM 14.

The merger of the WEC and the UFC has seemed to trigger the ability of the UFC to attract lighter weight Japanese fighters.  This Japanese infusion, together with the rumored drop in weight of some current UFC Lightweights, will only deepen an already exciting UFC Featherweight division and bring new challengers for Jose Aldo.
