Top MMA News was cage side once again for King Of The Cage Forty-Eight at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta last night. The fans were witness to some of the most active veterans in MMA like UFC Legend Dan “The Beast” Severn, former UFC Welterweight title contender Joe “Diesel’ Riggs, former KOTC World Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Tony “Kryptonite” Lopez and Pride veteran Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch.

Top MMA News choice for Knockout of the Night goes to Tyler Davis who put Keenan Feeney to sleep with a vicious head kick after just over a minute of non stop action. Feeney remained on the ground for several minutes following the KO but left the cage under his own power and was rumored to have sustained a broken jaw.

Top MMA News choice for Fight of the Night goes to a back and forth battle between Middleweight contenders Matt Baker and Brad Stewart that was almost too close to call. In the end Matt Baker eked out a split decision victory and ended the 4 fight win streak of Brad Stewart.

Trent Thorne vs Joe Riggs
The two fighters feel each other other before Riggs lands a leg kick followed by a double leg takedown landing in side control. Riggs secures a crucifix position and lands steady elbows. Riggs looks for an americana but Thorne escapes. Riggs again looks to land elbows from the crucifix position and hammers away with elbows until the referee steps in to rescue a bloodied Thorne from any further damage.

Raphael Bergman vs Tony Lopez
Round 1: Bergman lands a leg kick followed by a body kick and Lopez responds with a push kick. Bergman pushes forward with a combo followed by a body kick and a leg kick. Lopez unleashes a trio of wild kicks before connecting with a high kick that stuns Bergman. Lopez chases Bergman down and lands a few more shots. Bergman lands a push kick to get separation and the two trade punches. Lopez unleashes a combo of punches and kicks and barely misses a head kick. Bergman lands a pair of leg kicks and catches a kick from Lopez and pushes him away and lands a combo of punches. Lopez lands a solid head kick followed by a leg kick and a combo falls short from Bergman. A big combo from Lopez back Bergman up and Lopez lands a huge right as the bell sounds to end the round. Round 2: Bergman looks for a head kick but misses and follows up with a combo of punches. Lopez comes forward and lands a few shots that sends Bergman retreating and Lopez chases him into the corner and lands big punches to the downed fighter. Lopez passes to mount and looks for a kimura. Lopez lets go of the kimura and rains down elbows until the referee has seen enough and calls a halt to the fight.

Matt Baker vs Brad Stewart
Round 1: Baker bull rushes Stewart with a huge combo and lands a high kick followed by another quick flurry against the cage drops Stewart against the cage. Baker follows him down to his guard and the two get back to their feet. Stewart lands a solid right and Baker looks for a single leg but it’s stuffed by Baker. Stewart lands a combo and grazes him with a high kick. Stewart secures the clinch and lands a few knees before Baker muscles him to the ground landing in half guard and transitioning to side control. Baker pounds away on the body and Stewart works for a kimura attempt from the bottom until the final 10 seconds when he sweeps and lands a few elbows to close out the round. Round 2: Stewart lands a leg kick followed by a knee which prompts Baker to rush in with a flurry that bloodies the nose of Stewart. Stewart uses the momentum of Baker to take him down and land on top. Stewart lands a few shots before Baker throws up his legs for a triangle attempt but Stewart brushes him aside and passes to side control. Baker replaces his half guard but Stewart passes to mount. Stewart gets back to his feet and kicks the legs before Baker stands back up. Stewart lands a solid left and Baker responds with a combo. Stewart lands a leg kick and the two fighters exchange shots. Baker throws a wild combo and Stewart lands a leg kick and again they both exchange a flurry of punches until Baker rushes forward with a quick combo and a hard takedown into the guard to end the round. Round 3: Baker lands a right to open the final round and Stewart responds with a leg kick before they again go back and forth with punches yet again. They both trade leg kicks before Stewart shoots in for a take down. Baker looks for a guillotine but Stewart manages to pull his head free and gets to half guard. Stewart begins to chip away with punches before Baker scrambles away. Referee Vern Gorman calls a timeout to replace the mouthguard of Stewart. The fight restarts in a standing position and Baker pushes forward and drives Stewart into the cage with tremendous power and secures the takedown as the fight comes to an end. Dan Severn vs Tom Benesocky
Benesocky throws wild punches before Severn wraps him up and forces him into the cage. Severn locks Benesocky up and throws him to the mat with ease landing in half guard. Severn lands body shots before looking for an americana. Benesocky taps out to what is announced as an arm triangle.

Keenan Feeney vs Tyler Davis
The two trade jabs before Feeney rushes forward with a flurry against the cage. Both fighters trade big shots and Feeney connects with a pair of huge shots and Davis comes right back with a combo of his own that bloodies Feeney. Davis continues to press forward landing crushing blows. Davis lands a massive right that dazes Feeney and Davis follows up with a devastating head kick that sends Feeney crashing to the mat. Davis looks to follow up with ground and pound but it’s unnecessary as Feeney was out before he hit the mat. After the bout Feeney remained unconscious on the mat for several minutes. In the post fight interview Davis said “that was for Feeney coming in 5 pounds over” and that it was a “slap in the face”

Cody Krahn vs Shannon Ritch
Ritch opens with a thunderous spinning back kick that surprises Krahn and lands in the mid section. Krahn recovers, closes the distance and ties up with Ritch against the cage. The two jockey for position until Krahn secures a single leg and dumps Ritch to the mat where Krahn chips away with shots from the guard. Krahn pushes Ritch into the cage and lands rights and lefts before passing to half guard. Krahn looks to pass to full mount and Ritch screams in pain and verbally taps out due to what appears to be a groin injury.

Mariusz Zastawny vs Kris Miskanack
Miskanack lands a leg kick which prompts Zastawny to shoot for the takedown to half guard. Zastawny postures up and lands a few shots. Miskanack grabs a hold of a leg but Zastawny escapes and lands hammer fists. Miskanack applies a heel hook and Zastawny secures an attempt of his own. Zastawny pulls his leg free, takes his back and applies a rear naked choke. Miskanack spins out and is mounted but bucks him off and winds up in a mounted position and begins pounding away until the referee calls a halt to the fight.

Trevor Wright vs TJ Klassen
Both trade leg kicks until Wright lands a combo of punches that forces Klassen to shoot in for a takedown. Wright catches him with a big right on the way in that stuns Klassen. Wright lands in north/south position and lands shots before taking his back and continuing to land punches. Wright works the body with punches and throws lefts and rights and hammer fists. Wright moves to side control and lands several solid hammer fists that force referee Vern Gorman to step in and call the fight, ending Wright’s three fight losing streak.

Matt Knysh vs Mike Davis
Knysh lands a body kick and Davis responds with a combo against the cage. Knysh looks for a guillotine attempt but is instead taken down with Davis landing in half guard. Knysh attempt to secure a kneebar but Davis is able to free his leg and secure side control. Davis lands an elbow and passes to mount. Davis fires away with punches before switching to elbows. Davis continues to pound away mixing punches and elbows until referee John Braak finally steps in the rescue Knysh from any further punishment.

    do i cant find any vid and we poor fighters dont have cable or satellite so i hope i can find a copy of the fight, if anyone has a way to copy that fight off the ppv i would pay for a copy
