Mark Holst to Return to Ring at WRECK
Top MMA News has confirmed with sources very close to the fight that Mark Holst will make his first step back to the UFC at WRECK MMA on January 28th in 2011. Holst made two appearances in the UFC in 2010 but unfortunately lost them both and will now embark on his comeback to the big show.
Holst will fight Showtime Wedderburn on WRECK’s fifth show and second at the Casino du Lac-Lemay. Wedderburn will be making his return to the Ottawa/Gatineau promotion having lost to Martin Grandmont at WRECK MMA 3 earlier in 2010. This is the second fight that Wedderburn is scheduled for since coming up sick prior to his AFC fight. Wedderburn confirmed to Top MMA News that he is set to face Ryan Machan at Pure in Red Deer in December.
Holst/Wedderburn will be the second fight on a card that is shaping up to be a stellar card. Another UFC veteran, Jason Day, will be in the main event against Craig Brown.
Another fight on the card is rumored to be Louis-Philippe Carle vs Nathan Gunn. Carle vs Gunn is a solid Welterweight matchup with two fighters looking to get back into the win column. Carle is 7-2 in his career and 1-1 in previous WRECK fights – losing his last to Simon Marini. Gunn has a similar 7-2 and is looking to rebound from two consecutive losses in the MFC.
Top MMA News also learned that Anna Barone will once again be competing on the WRECK MMA card. Barone has been involved in every WRECK card held in Canada and will look to beat Shannon Ludlow in Gatineau.
