Hominick to Face Roop in UFC Fight for the Troops

Mark HominickMark Hominick will be taking on George Roop in a UFC Featherweight battle at UFC Fight Night 23 – Fight for the Troops, according to Heavy.com. The card is tentatively set for January 22 at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

Hominick, 19-8 overall, has recently gone on a tear in the WEC by winning his last three fights. He was briefly mentioned to be Jose Aldo’s next title challenger but that honor went to Josh Grispi. Interestingly enough, Hominick is one of two Canadians to be undefeated in the UFC. Hominick beat Jorge Gurgel and Yves Edwards in his previous run as a UFC Lightweight.

Now Hominick must face the rapidly improving George Roop. Roop, 11-6-1, is 1-1-1 in the WEC but is coming off a draw to Leonard Garcia and a vicious head kick knockout victory over the Korean Zombie. No doubt the winner of this bout will receive further title consideration.

Hominick is the man, I have had the pleasure of training with him countless times and I am definitly a fan. Roop is a good fighter as well but Hominick is called a machine for a reason.

Hominick and Roop fighting each other is awesome. Shows all these Koschek-Fitch types what professionals look like.

While Roop isn’t a pushover, I don’t see how he can beat Hominick.
