Ivan Menjivar signs with Zuffa, Makes return at WEC 53

Ivan Menjivar has gotten the call to make his return to the Octagon and reports indicate that he will take on Brad Pickett in a Bantamweight bout at WEC 53. This will mark Menjivar’s first fight under the Zuffa banner since a 2004 decision loss to former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra.

Menjivar recently made his return to the sport after a lengthy layoff following a pair of losses in late 2006 to top Lightweights Bart Palaszewski and Caol Uno respectively. Menjivar made his successful return, defeating American journeyman Aaron Miller under the Warrior 1 banner in June.

His rumored opponent Brad Pickett is coming off a decision loss to Bantamweight Title Contender Scott Jorgensen after posting nine straight wins including seven submissions in that span. The bout is rumored to take place on the un-aired preliminary card.

Menjivar will not be the only Canadian on the card as fellow countryman Chris Horodecki will take on former Lightweight Title contender Donald Cerrone on the evenings main card.
