Top MMA News has learned that UFC veteran Jason Day will face Ottawa’s Craig Brown in the WRECK MMA main event on January 28th. The event, to be held once again at the Casino du Lac-Lemay, will mark WRECK’s return to Canadian soil after a successful event for the Canadian military in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

WRECK MMA Matchmaker Alex Caporicci had the following to say about the recently signed bout,

“Wreck is very excited to have two of Canada’s top middleweights battle it out in our ring on January 28th. Both guys come with the intention to put on a great show for the fans and I’m looking forward to seeing these guys go all out for our great Gatineau fans.”

Craig Brown, who was one of the two cornermen in the Afghanistan event, will be a busy fighter this winter. The 7-3 fighter rematches against Chase Degenhardt at TFC 12 on December 10th and now faces a very tough test in Jason Day the following month in a battle of top Middleweights.

Jason Day has beaten such fighters as Alan Belcher, Jonathan Goulet, and David Loiseau but has fallen on rougher times. He lost in quick fashion to Ovince St. Preux and Jesse Taylor in his only two fights in 2010. Day will look to return to form against “Farmer” Brown in Ottawa/Gatineau.

Farmer is fighting Degenhardt at TFC. Craig is not looking ahead of Chase as Chase is a young, hungry, talented fighter and I really enjoyed having him and his coach at our event. Good bunch of guys.

Yeah, Chase is a cool dude too. When are we gonna find some asshole 185er?. Maybe a couple too many nice guy middleweights out there.

Time for Farmer to turn heel. He could piss off a local audience if he wanted to. Maybe out west.
