TJ Grant Talks UFC 119 Win and What is Next
With a lot of work that was put into the gym over the last two months, it paid off for TJ Grant over the weekend. Grant was able to take his skills to secure a decision victory over Julio Paulino at UFC 119 over the weekend in Indianapolis. While he was happy with the win, the Cole Harbour native is always pushing himself to be better.
“I was somewhat happy with my performance,” says Grant. “It was a good win, he was a tough guy. I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t get the submission. He is tough and he is resilient. He has never been finished in any of his fights for a reason. It was just a good fight.”
Grant was able to get multiple submissions attempts and was able to dictate the pace of the fight. While this is his third fight in the last ten months, this fight may be the last of this year. While the UFC will be making a stop in Montreal on December 11th, it is still in the early stages of filling out the card. While Zuffa usually tries to get as many Canadian fighters on the card as they can, it is still too early to see if Grant will make the trip. For now he will just be playing the waiting game.
“I am good to go, I just haven’t heard anything from the UFC,” says Grant. “I don’t really know what is next for me, I am just going to wait and see. I think we will find out soon what is next for me. I am sure we will find out soon. December is obviously an idea, but it is still kind of too soon to give any ideas as to what is next for me.”
While he may not know what is next for him, I am sure TJ will be happy catching up on some video games, watching some football and helping his teammates at Fitplus train for their fights at W-1 next month.
