W1 Announces Ninja Rua Fight
W1 has announced that Murilo ‘Ninja’ Rua will be on the W1 Halifax card, according to Cagepotato.com. Ninja is the older brother of the UFC Light-Heavyweight champion, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.
Ninja is on a four fight winning streak and has a 20-10-1 record. The Brazil native will be making his first appearance in Canada and has fought in major promotions such as PRIDE, Elite XC, and Strikeforce.
Rua will face Roy Boughton. Canadian fans will recall that Boughton took on Misha Cirkunov on short notice and finished the well-regarded Canadian prospect at the last W1 event. Boughton is 4-1 and lost his last fight to Sang Soo Lee in his last fight.

Huge signing. Roy might be in over his head but he has an amazing ground game. It’s a no lose fight for him.
I would love to see Rua and Kang in the future. Now that would be a headliner.
Good signing for sure, would like to see Kang vs Ninja if possible.
W1 is becoming the biggest promotion in Canada. Just need more fan support and limit the top fighter vs can fights.
Lost – I agree with you. These guys are at a make or break point. They will enter the MFC rank or they will fold. I’m hoping they keep up the momentum and fans start to follow them more closely.
Rogers and ninja on the same card in Canada. Fantastic!
