Sonnen Fails UFC 117 Drug Screening

By:

According to Sherdog.com‘s Greg Savage, Chael Sonnen has been notified that he has failed his post-fight drug screening following his bout with Anderson Silva at UFC 117.

The report quotes George Dodd, California State Athletic Commission’s Executive Director, stating that Sonnen received his notice.  Dodd also stated that all fighters passed the drugs of abuse scans, which means that Sonnen must have failed the performance enhancing drugs test.

If true, Sonnen could face a lengthy suspension.  Sean Sherk and Hermes Franca both received one year suspensions from the same commission for similar offences.  Sherk’s suspension was reduced on appeal.
