UFC 113 Quick Results – Shogun Wins Title

By:

UFC is live from Montreal tonight.  Its been a tough night for Canadians, but, at least, Joe Doerksen came out victorious with a nice submission victory.

In other action, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua gave Lyoto Machida his first loss and took home the Light-Heavyweight title by knocking out the Dragon in the first round in impressive fashion.

In the semi-main event, Josh Koscheck faked getting injured by an illegal knee that replayed showed never landed. Initially, the referee deducted a point from Paul Daley but he reversed his decision after seeing the replay. Koscheck went on to outgrapple Paul Daley for all three rounds. Look for Daley to get suspended for going after Koscheck after the bell and landing a left well after the final bell. Koscheck impressed the Montreal crowd by declaring that the Penguins would beat the Canadians next week and that he would beat GSP. He then asked them to come to his after party.

Here are the quick results from the event.

Mauricio Rua defeats Lyoto Machida by KO in Round 1, 3:35
Josh Koscheck defeats Paul Daley by Unanimous Decision
Jeremy Stephens defeats Sam Stout by Split Decision
Matt Mitrione defeats Kimbo Slice by TKO(Strikes) in Round 2, 4:24
Alan Belcher submits Patrick Cote by Rear Naked Choke in Round 2, 3:25

Prelims
Joe Doerksen submits Tom Lawlor by Rear Naked Choke in Round 2, 2:10
Marcus Davis defeats Jonathan Goulet by KO in Round 2, 1:23
Johny Hendricks defeats TJ Grant by Majority Decision (29-27, 29-27, 28-28)
Joey Beltran defeats Tim Hague by Unanimous Decision
Mike Guymon defeats Yoshiyuki Yoshida by Unanimous Decision

  7. I understand why Daley wanted to punch Koscheck after the fight. I wanted to punch Koscheck after the fight for that fake “i got kneed in the head” acting he did in the first round.

  8. Palhares received a 3 month suspension for not releasing his submission on Tomasz Drwal. Drwal was injured as a result.

I cannot see Daley being suspended as long. However, it is different commissions.

  13. Is anyone really suprised that Daley got cut after that? White gave Cocker so much shit for the whole post fight brawl at strike force, talking about how much of a disaster that was, and how he would have dropped the hammer hard. All it came down to last night after that hook after the bell was how hard Dana actually would bring down that hammer….and now we know.
