WEC Holding Card in Edmonton; Calgary Loses Out

By:

WEC never formally announced the location of its June WEC, but the Calgary Commission had stated that the WEC was going to hold a show in June at the Calgary Corral. Those plans have now changed as the WEC has formally announced that the will be going to Rexall Place in Edmonton according to a TSN story.

The WEC will now hold the event on June 20th in Edmonton.  WEC Vice-President Peter Dropkick stated that ”

They’re eager for the WEC to get in there. We’ve had good feedback from that market. Good ratings, good TV ratings and good pay-per-view buys from the UFC standpoint. . . . It’s one of the hotter markets.”

Word is that the WEC pulled the plug on the Calgary event due to arena availability issues.
