Is the the full card or will there be other non tournament fights as well?

  3. I am told that 3 more fights, featuring local fighters, will be added to the undercard.

  4. Dean, it is not being televised live. CHCH, which I don’t think is available in Manitoba, will broadcast highlights every month.

oh, I thought the show was gonna be live on CHCH. hmm

  7. Cody Rempel says:

Agreed Submission King… I was hoping they’d be like the 1 & 2 seed and be on oppoisite ends of the bracket!

Its such a killer fight and the two guys that I want to win, going have to watch this one. Cant wait to see who else they will slap on the card to fill it out.

  9. Bobby Karimi says:

Honestly I think the match making for the West bracket was poorly done.

The 4 most well known guys are set to face each other in 2 first round match ups.
I think a bracket similar to what I have below (I used their original 2 groups as to not break it down to drastically, but to show how a subtle change would improve) would have made for a better pairing.

    Victor Bachmann vs George Belanger
    Jordan Mein vs Colin Daynes
    Ryan McGillivray vs Jaret Evans
    Andrew Buckland vs Jose Rodriguez

it has to be a random draw as far as i know… it would be unfair otherwise.

At least it’s a good thing that we’re guaranteed to see Mein vs. Bachman and we won’t have to wait until the second or third show! Gotta look at the positives! lol

  12. Bobby Karimi says:

They shoulda done it K-1 World GP style. Pick a number, pick your opponent. That’s bad ass.

  13. Bobby Karimi says:

And it’s not about being fair or not.
Fights are matched, they could have given guys seedings based on their past accomplishments. Place 4 “A” seeds and then random draw the other 4 fighters to match up with those seeds. Woulda been some match making and some “fairness”

A seeds being: Mein, Bachmann, Buckland, McGillivray

i see what your sying … but it would be a nightmare to recruit fighters if the draw wasnt random.

looks to me like the eastern roster is having troubles finding fighters as it is.

  16. Bobby Karimi says:

Fighters will fight if the money’s right. Many don’t care who their oppponent is. This is unfortunately true.
Yea I figured it might be hard to get guys for the tourney as many guys are already locked into other orgs.

  17. I have been in Montreal covering Ringside and it would be good to see unsigned guys like Garcia and Makdessi and Gauthier on LGIO.

I have talked to quite a few Quebec fighters and managers and many did not sign with LGIO due to the length and exclusivity of the contracts that they were offered.

One manager said 16 months was offered for his fighter but I find that hard to believe.

I have heard nine months and exclusive until you are knocked out from the tourney from one LGIO signed fighter. Another fighter on LGIO also said that he can fight as long as its not one month before his scheduled fight.

  18. hawkes says:

the contract is untill you lose in the tournament… or untill the tournament is over. they are offering other contracts such as the strikeforce challenger series contract if you win the tournament. i am fighting 6 weeks before the tournament starts without penalty.

i see it as win/win… other fighters and managers are not afraid of the exclusivity… they are afraid of the unknown opponents.

  21. Cody Rempel says:

Did they cancel the alternate fight between Daychief and Aaron Berk?

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  22. Dunno. Just posting what is on the LGIO website for fights next weekend. Could Daychief make 170?

  23. Cody Rempel says:

I was assuming so since he’s been slotted in as an alternate from the moment they announced who’d be in the tournament!

  24. Not a random draw, Lindsey. Matchups based on styles.
