MacGrath to Face MMA Pioneer at Aggression MMA 3
Top MMA News has learned that Matt MacGrath will be returning to Aggression MMA in Vernon on May 21. Fans will remember McGrath from Aggression MMA 2 where Matt took the recently signed UFCer Claude Patrick deep into the fight before succumbing to a Guillotine by Patrick in the third round.
Now the Titans Gym fighter will be facing Chris Brennan at Aggression MMA 3. Brennan has been been fighting since 1996, has fought in top organizations like PRIDE and the UFC, and has beaten notable fighters such as Joe Stevenson and Antonio McKee.
MacGrath tells Top MMA News that his size and and Brennan’s inactivity will be factors in the fight.
“Chris Brennan is a far more experienced and seasoned fighter than I am. He has fought in the “big show” a number of times against fighters like John Alessio, Pat Militech, Gomi and Joe Stevenson. There is no doubt about it that he will be a formidable opponent. However, he has been very inactive over the past number of years in the MMA scene, fighting once in 2009(loss) and his last fight before that was in 2007, also a loss. He is natural 155lb fighter and I am a bigger 170lb fighter walking around at 195lbs.”
This is no easy comeback fight for Halifax’s MacGrath. He just lost to one of Canada’s top Welterweights and now he is taking on a serious veteran like Brennan. MacGrath feels he needs to rebound from his last fight,
“I’m coming off a close loss. The first time I’ve ever been stopped so I have something to prove. I aim to be stronger, faster, more focused than ever and am confident I will walk away with the win.”
