Kaufman Brings Home Gold for Canada
Sarah Kaufman from Victoria’s ZUMA gym took home Strikeforce gold on Friday when she won the newly minted Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight belt. The fight went to the judges who scored all five rounds for Kaufman.
Kaufman defeated Japan’s Takayo Hashi using her superior stand up skills. Kaufman used an effective jab and Hashi wanted no part of the stand up and kept circling or backing away. While not the stoppage she was looking for, Kaufman kept to her strategy and took home the belt.
In other action, Trevor Prangley accidently got his thumb in Karl Amoussou’s eye and the fight was ruled a Technical Draw.
