Newton out Alessio in for W-1: Bad Blood


Top MMA News has been able to confirm through independent sources that Carlos Newton has withdrawn from his March 20th bout against Chris Clements for W-1: Bad Blood in Montreal. Newton has torn his bicep during training and will be scheduled for surgery soon. According to sources, he is looking at 6-8 weeks recovery period post surgery.

W-1 continues to sign top talent as John Alessio has stepped in to replace the injured Newton and will face Chris Clements in the semi-main event on March 20th at the Centre Pierre Charbonneau in Montreal. Alessio has signed a one fight deal with the organization. The #2 ranked Canadian welterweight is coming off a two fight win streak with the MFC after stopping both Andrew Buckland and Luigi Fioravanti respectively.

    well ya I think all MFC contracts are exclusive ones, but he was the only guy I could think of that would be able to challenge Healy for the title.

    Healy is fighting for W-1 now too….what is going on at MFC?

    Healy dropped to 155lbs and so he couldn’t defend the 170lbs welterweight title. So I think they cut ties…
