Exclusive – Carvalho Inks Three Fight Deal with W-1
Top MMA News has been able to confirm that Canadian featherweight Antonio ‘Pato’ Carvalho has inked a three fight deal with Warrior One (W-1) MMA today. Carvalho has been inactive since June of 2008 and was once considered one of the best Featherweights in the world. Now Carvalho hopes to recapture that status starting March 20th at Warrior One in Montreal. Carvalho told Top MMA News:
“You know, there was a time between my last fight and now when I questioned if I would ever be in the ring or cage again. This is a new beginning for me, I’m starting over. So it only seems fitting that I’d come back to Canada to fight again. I think W-1 is doing great things for Canadian fighters and our country’s talent can rival anyone else’s in the world. I’m looking forward to entertaining Canadian fight fans soon.”
Carvalho is a veteran of the Japanese Shooto organization and holds notable wins over Brian Geraghty, Takeshi Inoue, Rumina Sato and Hatsu Hioki. Carvalho’s last fight in Canada was in March of 2005, making his return to competing on home soil a notable one. With this signing W-1 continues to stack its’ roster as Carvalho joins the likes of Dennis Kang and Chris Clements as recently acquired top Canadian talent.
Currently, there is no word on who will be Pato’s March 20th opponent. Keep it tuned to Top MMA News regarding this still developing story.
