Starnes Signs with AFC for March 6th Fight

Last August, Kalib Starnes was set to face Matt Horwich when he received a nasty cut in training.  The cut, and resulting stitches, forced Starnes to pull out of the Armageddon Fighting Championship main event.  Now the AFC is giving Victoria fans a second chance to see the British Columbia native at AFC 2 on March 6th.

Fans are well acquainted with Starnes (9-4-1), who participated in The Ultimate Fighter 3 competition.  Most recently, Starnes lost to Bellator Middleweight champion Hector Lombard in Australia.  Although Starnes has gained notoriety for his performance in a fight against Nate Quarry at UFC 83, it must be remembered that Kalib is a very dangerous fighter who has beaten talented opponents like Jason MacDonald and Chris Leben.

Top MMA News has learned that Starnes will be facing Marcus Hicks (10-18).  Hicks is a journeyman fighter from Calgary who is not afraid to challenge himself against the top fighters in the nation.  In the past, Hicks has fought future and former UFC fighters like Krzysztof Soszynski, Jason Day, and Bill Mahood.  In his most recent fight, Hicks scored a technical knock out over Shane Biever at Edmonton’s Adrenaline promotion.
