Valimaki To Defend TFC World Title

By:
TFC THUMBVictor Valimaki (16-5) will defend his TFC Light Heavyweight World title at TFC 9 Total Chaos against fellow Canadian Martin “The Stress” Desilets (9-2). Valimaki became the first man in the TFC to hold a World Championship when he beat Lew “The Titan” Polley by unanimous decision in a five round war at TFC 8 Salvation.

Valimaki comes into his first title defence riding a very impressive seven fight win streak. The Finnisher, a nickname derived from his Finnish ancestry, is looking to impressive people with a win against another top fighter. “I definitely want the big organizations to take notice. I won a war against Lew (Polley) and a win over Desilets should open some more eyes. I am very happy to be the first TFC World Champion and am looking forward to defending my belt in front of my hometown fans.”

Victor is not the only fighter looking to impress. Desilets has won his last two fights, including avenging an earlier loss to Todd Gouwenberg, and is looking at this title fight as a great opportunity. “This is a very important fight for me. I have been training very hard at Tristar with Tom Murphy, Jon Jones, David Loiseau, Kenny Florian and GSP. I know Valimaki is a very good wrestler and he deserves to be champ. The TFC is a new organization to me and I want their belt!”

TFC President Mark Sinclair has wanted to put Valimaki and Desilets in the cage since he signed Victor earlier this year. “I wanted this fight for our last show, but Desilets was unable to fight because of injury. I feel this is one of the top Light Heavyweight fights in Canada. I am expecting an all out war between two very talented fighters.”

It could be an early Christmas present for TFC fans if this fight lives up to its potential. Both men are looking to impress and feel the best way to turn heads is by having their hand raised in victory.
