Mein, Rodriguez, Cardinal Win their Rumbles in the Cage

By:

In Lethbridge on November 7, Rumble in the Cage held their 37th edition of their event.  In the main event, RITC owner Lee Mein defeated Devan Garnon to take home the RITC Heavyweight belt.

In other competition, Brad Cardinal and Jose Rodriguez climbed up the MMA rankings ladder by defeating tough opposition.  Cardinal stopped Trevor Wright to capture the RITC Lightweight title.  Jose stopped a very tough Matt Bagshaw and broke Bagshaw’s nose in the process.  Jose Rodriguez vs Brad Cardinal for a Brad Cardinal title defense would make a lot of sense.

Here are the full results:

Main Event Heavy Weight Title fight:
Lee Mein (CMC) defeats Devan Garnon (Calgary) via KO in Round 1, 0:21

I have alot of respect for Jose and his team. But I would like to see him make weight before getting a shot at Brad. Coming in at 163 is a little ridiculous IMO.

  2. What weight was this fight supposed to be at?

  3. Wow. I never get any weigh in results from RITC, BDB. I agree that 8 lbs is ridiculous. Thanks for letting Top MMA News know. I understand your position on not wanting him to fight Brad. It is unprofessional to come in 8 lbs over weight.

Jose has made weight at all the three shows that I have seen him fight on in Winnipeg.

While I agree it is unprofessional to not make weight, its worth noting that everybody was aware that Jose was heavy and a catch-weight of 160 lbs was offered. Also that neither fighter came in at 160.

Its is unfortunate that Jose did not make weight and that was not his intent belive me, we take making weight very seriously. It happens, it is part of the learning curve. Bagshaws management had the option of not taking the fight as all camps do. Bagshaw and management accepted the fight and he recived his 20%. To make an issue out of it after you lose would be just as unprofessional if not more.

I have alot of respect for Bagshaw and his camp, as for Jose getting a title shot it was never asked for, that was Keith suggesting possible match ups, thats his job. I think Jose needs some work before we are going to start worrying about titles. There are alot of other top contenders that Iam sure will give Cardinal run in the mean time.

    Thanks for hearing me out.

  8. Thanks for the comment Troy.

Jose was in the same predicament as Bagshaw a couple fights ago. He made weight and his opponent Tiago Tavares did not. Jose took the fight and the 20% and won an exciting fight.
