Heat XC 4 Results: Hollett, Johnson Victorious
HeatXC 4 was held tonight at the River Cree Resort and Casino. In the main event, Roger Hollett defeated Aron Lofton in the first round by Arm Bar. Kajan Johnson showed why he is the best Canadian Lightweight not in the UFC by handing Josh Russell his first professional loss.

Jason Kuchera defeats Taylor Bull by TKO at 4:15 of Round 2
Taylor Bull beat up Kuchera in the first round by using his reach, Kuchera looked hurt bad and is bleeding alot. Both fighters come out in the 2nd swinging for the fences and are both are gassed, Kuchera who looks finished surprisingly lands a bunch of strikes while standing and takes out Bull at 4:15 in the 2nd round by TKO.
Jeff Montemurro defeated Chad Sherman by TKO at 1:29 of Round 1
Wild fight with multiple takedowns and reversals, Montemurro landing some good ground and pound, Sherman works back to his feet, Sherman gets caught up in the ropes and is having trouble, he comes back in the ring and Montemurro unloads in a big way with vicious strikes and an uppercut followed by kicks to the body, Sherman rolls to his back and the referee steps in to stop the action at 1:29 of Round 1 giving Montemurro the TKO victory.
After the fight, Montemurro spoke with Top MMA News and spoke of being nervous going into this fight but felt good as he had a great training camp at the Hayabusa training center with lots of top level fighters. He knew he had Sherman hurt with a body shot and took his opportunity to finish big while going in for the kill.
Andrew Buckland defeated Allen Hope by Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 3:22 of Round 1
Fighters exchange on their feet, and Buckland gets the takedown and works to mount, works to his back and secures the Rear Naked Choke at 3:22 of Round 1.
Ryan Fortin defeats Jared Kilkenny by TKO (Strikes) at 1:38 of Round 1
Both fighters come flying out brawling with Fortin getting the better of the exchanges. Fortin has Kilkenny in the corner landing knees and punches when the referee stops it at 1:38 of Round 1.
Josh Bryant defeats Danny Valimaki by KO at 2:19 of Round 2
Lots of punches exchanged in this bout with Bryant finising Valimaki and breaking his nose.
Kajan Johnson defeats Josh Russell by TKO (Doctor Stoppage) in Round 2
Russell comes out with a Push kick which was countered by punches, they clinch and Johnson gets the takedown. Has side control, as Russell works to his feet. Kajan lands a couple kicks as Russell shoots in for the takedown into Kajan half guard. Russell trys to pass, but Johnson pulls guard. Russell lands a few punches as Johnson goes for an armbar attempt that looks locked on, but Russell pulls out. There is a scramble and Johnson lands an upkick when Russell is down as there is a temporary stoppage as the referee talks to the fighters. Round ends as Top MMA News scores it 10-9 for Johnson as his armbar attempt was very close to finishing Russell.
Russell starts the round with a takedown attempt as Johnson slips away and lands a jab. Russell throws a kick and tries to pull guard. They are back on their feet with Johnson landing kicks and punches but doesn’t land clean. They both exchange kicks as Russell shoots and pulls guard. Johnson stands up as Russell is forced to stand. Johnson lands a partial headkick as Russell looks to flop to the ground in a classic grappler versus striker matchup. Johnson motions for Russell to get up and attempts a flying knee that narrowly misses. Johnson is landing some hard knees from the clinch as Rusell is cut open. Russell is cut bad and the doctor is brought in to take a look. He has a bad cut by his right eye, and the fight is stopped.
After the fight when talking to Top MMA News, Kajan Johnson mentioned he is looking to fight real soon and hoping for a December 4th fight with Derrick Noble. He felt very calm and knew that Russell couldn’t finish him and knew he just had to remain composed and patient.
