DREAM 9 Results – Middleweight Title Fight Ends in No Contest
At DREAM 9, Mayhem Miller and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza were fighting for the vacant Middleweight title. Unfortunately, the title remains vacant as an accidental kick by Mayhem to the head of a down Jacare caused a cut to open and the fight to be stopped. The fight was ruled a no contest.
Also on the card, Tatsuya Kawajiri survived a Guillotine from JZ Cavalcante and then rode out a victory from top position. A huge surprise was the defeat of Kid Yamamoto. World Champion Greco-Roman wrestler Joe Warren pressured Kid throughout the fight and seemingly walked through his crisp punches and kicks to win a Split Decision. It was Warren’s second MMA fight.
In the Super Hulk tournament, Joe Canseco lost his debut MMA fight to Hong Man Choi. To his credit, Canseco lasted almost as long as Mark Hunt and longer than Bob Sapp who also lost in the first round of the Open Weight tournament.
