TFC Driving a New Ford

The Fight Club launched a new era in Edmonton mixed martial arts this week with the signing of mercurial local welterweight Ryan (The Real Deal) Ford.

“We are extremely pleased that Ryan has joined our stable and we are loooking forward to him becoming a cornerstone of the most professionally-run MMA promotion in Western Canada,” TFC president Mark Sinclair said in announcing Ford’s signing.

“Ryan is a proven crowd-pleaser who has only just scratched the surface of his amazing potential and at this juncture in his career he is on the brink of taking the next step towards international stardom.  We are proud that he came to the realization that the best way to harness his star potential was to join The Fight Club.  When the best fighters come together with the best promoters, good things happen for fans of this great sport,” said TFC promoter Melanie Lubovac.

Ford, whose 8-2 record includes three wins by KO, four by submission, and one by decision has established a reputation as an awesome striker who is equally comfortable going to the ground game for bone-shattering slams. A relentless stalker in the cage, he’s also demonstrated a flair for being able to quickly size up and exploit an opponent’s weaknesses.  Ford’s standup game will be fine-tuned by Milan Lubovac whose stable also includes Victor Valimaki, Adam Braidwood, Jelena Mrdienovich (WBC World Boxing Champion), Jorge Ravanal, and many more.
