Sengoku Results – Canadian Nick Denis Advances

By:

Nick DenisSengoku returned to Tokyo for their Seventh Battle which launched their version of a 2009 Featherweight Grand Prix.  To start the event, Canada’s Nick Denis started things off with a bang.  Denis dropped Seiya Kawahara to the mat with an early high kick.  Kawahara bravely rose only to be dropped by a series of strikes from the unbeaten King of the Cage Canada veteran.

Former TKO fighter and top featherweight Hatsu Hioki had a tough match with previous unbeaten Chris Manuel from American Top Team.  Hioki made it look easy and kept Manuel on the defensive the entire match.  Ultimately Hioki won by Arm Bar late in the first round.

Also on the card was Mighty Mo Lawal.  He remained undefeated as he outgunned Ryo Kawamura to a decision win.  James Thompson also fought.  Unlike Strikebox, Thompson’s actions did not start a riot – he merely got knocked out late in the first round by  Jim York in a Superheavyweight battlej.
