RIP Charles “Mask” Lewis from Tapout
The MMA world is today mourning the death of Charles “Mask” Lewis from the infamous Tapout crew.
Information is still being released as we speak, but rumors are that the Ferrari being driven by Lewis was racing with a Porsche last night at approximately 1:00 A.M. The Ferrari allegedly hit the Porsche, then a curb before hitting a light pole killing Lewis and injuring the female passenger that was in the car with him.
“It apparently was traveling at a high rate of speed, and it left the roadway, hit the curb, took out a light pole, and … someone is deceased in the vehicle and we don’t know who that person is at this particular time,” Newport Beach police Lt. Steven Shulman told ABC7.
Charles was part owner of the multi million dollar company “Tapout” and is a pioneer in the MMA world. Love him or hate his style, he did great things for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and his passion could never be questioned.
“It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we must regretfully confirm the passing of our beloved friend, brother and co-founder Charles (Mask) Lewis following a car accident that occurred last night,” Tapout said on its website.
“We are currently in the process of setting up a memorial service in his honour and will release more details as they become available.”
