UCW Announces Friday the Thirteenth Massacre Lineup
Ultimate Cage Wars today released its official lineup for its March 13th night of fights. Entitled Friday the Thirteenth Massacre, this will be UCW’s 15th fight card in Winnipeg.
The main event features former Sydney Olympics judoka Ferrid Kheder who trains with Joe “Daddy” Stevenson – who will corner Kheder. Kheder’s opponent is Canuckles’ Graydon Tannas. Both fighters will be returning to UCW. The 9-2 Kheder won each of his fights at UCW 10 and 11, while the 5-6 Tannas is 1-2 in Winnipeg.
In Semi-Main event action, Jay Alexander faces Peguis’ Chris Stranger on his return to the cage after a lengthy absence. “After three year off, I am excited about coming back,” spouts Stranger. Chris has not fought professionally in Winnipeg and “will be coming to the cage in the best shape of my life.” Stranger recently won a silver and bronze medal in the famed Grappler’s Quest competition and promised himself that he would return to MMA if he was able to medal against top competition.
Chris Stranger believes that the fight will be over very quick or it will be a long, hard fight. “I hope its a bloody fight!,” states the Peguis warrior. Although not knowing too much about his opponent Alexander, Stranger has done some scouting – “Alexander has heavy hands and good jiu-jitsu,” he states. Also on the card is Stranger’s Bears Den teammate Dwight Sutherland who is 1-1 at UCW. Cheering them both on will be many boisterous members of the Peguis First Nation including the wife, parents and granny of Chris Stranger.
Matchmaker Gabriel Santos is excited about the card he has put together. He states:
This card will be the best card the UCW has ever done. All eleven MMA bouts are tough fights! We have matched all winners from previous shows with other guys coming off wins and the main event is one of the biggest that we have put together.”
