Forrest Griffin Out for the Year?

Forrest Griffin loses Lightheavyweight title to Rashad Evans

After severely breaking his right hand during his UFC 92 title defense against Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin will be on the shelf for the remainder of 2009.

The UK Sun is reporting that Griffin has since had surgery on his hand.  The surgery involved putting pins in the hand to help the healing process.

Industry sources told the newspaper that the very earliest Griffin could be back is late Autumn if everything goes smoothly but it could very well be 2010 before we see the Ultimate Fighter 1 champion back in the cage.  Griffin lost by a third round TKO to Rashad Evans in his first Light-heavyweight title defense.
