WEC to Add Flyweight Division

The Zuffa-owned WEC is currently planning to add a 125 lb Flyweight division, according to MMAWeekly.com.

Currently, the only professional option thus far has been the Japanese Shooto promotion where world class fighters such as Shinichi Kojima and Mamoru Yamaguchi ply their trade.

Rumour has it that the division will be built around American Gold medal Olympian Henry Cejudo.  Cejudo is Mexican-born, but raised in the U.S.A. and has a rags-to-riches story.  He and his family illegally immigrated to the U.S.A. and Cejudo eventually became the youngest Gold medal wrestler in American history.  Cejudo was rumoured to be an opponent of Kid Yamamoto in 2008.

No fights have been scheduled as of yet for the WEC Flyweight division.

this is awesome, we need more weight classes for more title fights.
I also would like a 205lb. to 240lb. call is cruiserweight, then HW at 241+
Alot of great fighters out there cannot make weight and need a lighter class.
Also maybe a 115. Crap boxing has 98lb.

Too many weight divisions is bad in my opinion, but since WEC got rid of a couple of weight classes, I don’t see this as a bad idea. These little guys need somewhere to fight :)
