Cageplay Exclusive: Loiseau Returns to the UFC
Sources close to both fighters have confirmed to Cageplay.com that an April 18th UFC 97 match is in the works between David Loiseau and Ed Herman in Montreal when the UFC returns for their second Canadian date. The Crow has not been in the UFC since 2006 when he dropped consecutive fights to Rich Franklin in a title match and then Mike Swick. Loiseau then fought his way back to the UFC by besting Solomon Hutcherson with a fifth round TKO in XMMA action. Loiseau joins a strong group of Canadians currently in the UFC’s Middleweight division including Jason MacDonald, Jason Day, Denis Kang, and Patrick Cote. Loiseau fills a hole left by Joe Doerksen being released after 3 straight losses and Kalib Starnes ran out of the division.
Ed “Short Fuse” Herman is on a two fight losing streak – a split decision loss to Alan Belcher last September and to Middleweight contender Demian Maia at UFC 83 last year at Canada’s inaugural UFC. He looks to get back on track and spoil the Crow’s homecoming in April and show the Canadian fans what he is capable of.
I spoke with Ken Pavia (David Loiseau’s agent) after this story was released, and this hasn’t been officially signed yet.
Awaiting comment from Herman’s management team.
I hope the “Crow” returns.
