Gouveia Misses Weight for The Ultimate Fighter Finale
At the TUF 8 Finale weigh-ins, Middleweight Wilson Gouveia was unable to meet the 186 pound limit on his first attempt. The Nevada State Athletic Commission did not allow Gouveia to try to cut the extra three pounds and return for a second attempt due to safety concerns for Gouveia’s health. Gouveia originally debuted as a Light-Heavyweight in the UFC and fought six fights at 205 lbs. Gouveia felt he was undersized as a Light-Heavyweight and decided to drop to Middleweight following a loss to Gorn Reljic at UFC 84. Gouveia has made the Middleweight limit once in the UFC. He beat Ryan Jensen in September’s Ultimate Fight Night 15.
As for the TUF 8 finalists, all four made weight. Phillipe Nover and Efrain Escudero both made the Lightweight limit. Likewise for the Light-Heavyweights as Vinicius Magalhaes and Ryan Bader both made their 205 lb limit.
