Winnipeg Fighter Chris Fontaine To Headline National TV Show

Chris Fontaine faces UFC standout Ryan Jimmo in Moncton showdown

WINNIPEG, Sept. 25 — The Fight Network’s newest promotion, X FIGHTS, announced today the addition of top-ranked MMA middleweight Chris Fontaine to the lineup for X FIGHTS on Saturday, Oct. 4. Fontaine will headline the show against UFC “The Ultimate Fighter 8” veteran Ryan Jimmo.

Fontaine, who hasn’t lost a fight in over two years, is the top-ranked middleweight in Canada. A native of the Sagkeeng First Nation outside of Winnipeg, MB, Fontaine was last seen defending his Gladiators MMA championship against Brendan Seguin during the inaugural Testa Dura Promotions show, which was held on August 15, 2008. Fontaine is a former TKO Champion and currently has a record of 17-10.

Fontaine has made a name for himself with impressive knock outs, a remarkable ground game, and stellar submissions. In 2004, he became TKO Middleweight Champion after a vicious knock out of Steve Vigneault, which instantly made him an overnight star in Quebec. Training with Giuseppe De Natale’s legendary fight camp, Team Canada MMA, Fontaine is excited about main eventing a national show.

“Being in the main event is very important to any fighter,” said Fontaine. “I’m thankful to the X Fights promoter and The Fight Network for providing me this chance at national exposure. You might say that I am more nervous than excited, but as my past fights have proven, that only makes me better. I am willing, ready, and able to establish my name as one of Canada’s best ever.”

Giuseppe De Natale, President of Testa Dura Promotions and Fontaine’s trainer, added, “Chris didn’t grow up with a life of luxury. Every day of his life, he has been fighting against incredible odds to avoid becoming just another statistic. His ‘never-give-up, never-look-back’ approach to life is what made him the man he is today. Chris is an inspirational story waiting to be told. It is without question that he will exceed everyone’s expecatations on October 4 and continue his remarkable story.”

The premiere installment of X FIGHTS on The Fight Network will debut at the Moncton Colisseum in Moncton, NB on Saturday, Oct. 4.
