UFC vs. Affliction July 19th

Affliction is set to debut their product with a main event of Tim Sylvia vs Fedor Emelianenko on July 19th on PPV titled "Banned". The card has Andrei Arlovski set to take on Ben Rothwell, as well as Josh Barnett vs Pedro Rizzo II. The card is full of UFC vets, and ex UFC champs, taking on the biggest talked about MMA fighter to only fight in the US once.

The UFC has secured a date of July 19th also and will show their card free on Spike TV. The main event will feature the UFC light heavyweight debut of Anderson Silva vs James Irvin, and there could be a Chuck Liddell vs Anderson Silva matchup in the future if 205 works out well for Silva on the 19th.

There was also talk of a Brandon Vera vs Wanderlei Silva match at 205 to headline this card as well. Who knows if that matchup is still in the works for this card or not. Frankie Edgar vs. Hermes Franca which was set to take place at UFC 87 on Aug. 9th in Minneapolis, was moved up to the July 19th card which is being title Ultimate Fight Night 14.

My question is which card do you plan on watching live? Of coarse we need to watch both being the MMA enthusiasts that we all are. But seriously, which one is more appealing to watch live?

Here are the rumored matchups so far for both cards.

Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin (205)

Cain Velasquez vs. Jake O’Brien

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia

You just have to laugh at Dana and the UFC. This is something that a 12 year old girl would do when all her friends are going to someone elses birthday party. I will definately be watching Banned and taping the UFC

I’m pretty interested in seeing Fedor in action again. I’s funny how such a dominant fighter has never enjoyed proper mainstream recognition (unlike Kimbo Slice) until now.

MArc, correct me if I am off here, but is Dana White simply averse to signing up the big money? What is going on behind the scenes here?
